What is AI, and why does it need to know you?

The simple answer. Three minutes to read.

The short answer

AI is a computer program you can talk to, and it learned by reading a huge part of the internet. It knows a lot about everything, but nothing about you. Context is what you tell it about yourself, so that its answers fit you.

What is AI?

AI is a computer program you can talk to in normal words.

You type a question and it writes the answer in a few seconds.

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok are all AI.

You: What does BTL mean?

AI: BTL means buy-to-let. You buy a home, then rent it out.

How does AI know so much?

It learned by reading books, websites and forums, far more than any person could ever read.

That is how it learned to write like us.

Is AI always right?

No: when it does not know something, it guesses, and the guess sounds just as sure as a fact.

So give it the real facts and check what matters.

Example

You: What did 14 Elm Road sell for?

AI: It sold for £250,000 last month.

Made up: it guessed

Why are AI answers so general?

Because AI has never met you, so it does not know your money, your area or your goals.

It gives you the answer it would give anyone.

Example

You: Should I buy this house in Bradford?

AI: It depends on your budget, your goals and your strategy. Here are ten things to think about…

The same answer for everyone

What is context?

Context is everything your AI knows about you.

It works like the first day of a new employee: you tell them who you are, what you want and how you work.

About me Example
Money to invest
£60,000
Where I buy
Leeds
What I buy
Houses to rent by the room
My goal
£3,000 a month from rent
My rule
7% yield or more

What changes when AI knows you?

You get an answer that fits you.

It is the same question and the same AI: only the context has changed.

You: Should I buy this house in Bradford?

AI: It depends on your budget, your goals and your strategy. Here are ten things to think about…

Without context

You: Should I buy this house in Bradford?

AI: No. Bradford is outside your area, Leeds. And the yield is 5%, below your 7% rule. Here are two houses in Leeds that fit.

With context

"It said: 'This is not part of your strategy, Hanna. Has something changed? Tell me.' I love it because it keeps you focused on what I said."
Hanna R.Supported living and social housing, full-time job, young son

How do I give my AI context?

You write it down once and keep it up to date.

Most people never do it, because it takes time and a new chat often starts from zero.

Your Property AI Brain does it for you, inside the ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini you already use.

Your AI then knows UK property from day one and remembers your deals, your goals and your numbers.

Questions people ask

Is ChatGPT the same as AI?

ChatGPT is one AI among others, like Claude, Gemini and Grok, and they all need context to give answers that fit you.

Is the Property AI Brain a new AI?

No: you keep your own ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and the Property AI Brain gives it your context.

Do I need to be good with computers?

No, you type in normal words, just like a text message.

"You don't need to be IT literate. Ten minutes and you'll be fine."
Darren H.Property AI Brain member
Will AI replace me?

No: it does the computer work, and you do what only people can do, the viewings, the calls and the deals.

What is a prompt?

A prompt is the message you type to the AI, and when it knows your context a short message is enough.

The next deals will go to people with the right AI context.
